Recently upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium but I cannot get it to index
the network drives like it was doing in XP. The C drive is being
indexed fine. But I have left the computer running and idle for a week
now and in the preferences page, next to the index drives, it still
says crawl not started. I am not sure what is going on, have looked
around but cannot figure it out. Please help.

Hi there Igiwwa,,,,
All what I can say is :
Firstly,if you are using a laptop there was such a similar case and it was solved by not to use the battery as a power source and connect it to the power source directly ( seems strange isnt)
Secondly,, please check if it is fully compatible with Windows7 or not ???
https://www.microsoft.com/
Finally, if it is compatible try to uninstall GDS , remove it completely and then redownload it and reinstall it then check

From the Google Desktop support page:
You've enabled Search Across Computers, but data isn't updating on other computers.
This problem is related to connection latency between your computer and Google Desktop's servers. While we don't have an immediate workaround, we're working on a fix for a future edition.
Does that sound right?
