I'm not sure about possible issues though of enabling BitLocker on your D drive, especially since you mentioned that it is a Recovery drive.

If I were you, I would not encrypt the recovery drive. If for any reason you are not able to boot into Windows, or the decryption portion of Windows fails, you'll need that recovery drive to recover your files and to repair Windows. If it's encrypted (and it can be decrypted), you'll really be stuck.
