Are you saying it doesn't even recognize it as a drive, so you cannot transfer files? Because it should still be able to do that, without any additional drivers, etc.
Have you tried using an external card reader, to see if it can recognize the card and transfer files that way?

According to Canon (http://www.usa.canon.com/ app/pdf/Wi ndows7_com patibility .pdf), the EOS utility is not available for Windows 7 to view images on the Canon EOS 10D.
Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure...
