HP printer driver problems

I recently attempted to add the HP officejet 8500 all in one driver to a windows 7 x86 box with the printer connected over the network via cable. Unfortunately, I installed the XP version of these drivers without thinking. After the installation, I attempted to remove the XP drivers by going through Add/remove programs removal wizard. The wizard would run but never finish the uninstallation (it would simply start and eventually close the wizard window without asking for a computer restart). After multiple attempts using the wizard, I deleted the files off the hard drive and from the registry. When I attempted to install the Windows 7 version of the printer drivers, the wizard could not recognize any of the networked printers - even after typing in the IP manually. Additionally, some of the extra software that comes with the all-in-one drivers did not install (such as the HP Action Center).

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Thanks, I needed to use the fixit first then the hp removal utility. Looks like it's working correctly now.
