Windows 7 reporting not genuine Error 0x8004FE21

I am receiving a popup that Windows 7 Pro 64bit is not genuine.  This laptop has Lenovo OEM Windows installed for 3 + years and recently started getting popup.  It seems not genuine error has to do with file mismatches.  I just don't know how to fix.  I tried re-activating Windows and did not fix.  I've also run scans with MSSE & Malwarebytes with no issues detected.  Please see MGA Diagnostics Report below:

Stupid question, but you tried activating with the key under the laptop?

ASKER

I already reactivated with key
The key that shows in the log is not genuine.....check the COA label if the COA label key ends with  MV8MH-98QJM-24367 ...then you dont have a genuine copy.

If the key on COA lable is different then update the product key by following this steps

First run this fixit to rename tokens.dat

http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9779124

after that update the product key

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows/help/genuine/product-key

Restart system and then run mgadiag again ...make sure the COA key is listed in the log ...

You issue will be resolved.

Just out of curiosity, after you run the above, what do you see when you access
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/
Ded,

I found COA and it did not match what Mcdiag reported.  I followed your instructions and I am getting same mcdiag error code 0x8004FE21.  updated product key is reflected in new mcdiag report:

FYI.  I called Lenovo (still have a few days of support left on warranty) and they told me I need to reinstall Windows from recovery cds.  There's got to be a better way....
jcimarron

thanks.  I came across that article before I posted to EE.  It didn't apply directly to my situation, but I went ahead and updated storage drivers and it did not help.  Still reporting not genuine
