RDP hanging

Windows 7 Pro on LAN and on a VPN, I am RDPing to my computer via VPN in another city. I do this every day and normally when I toggle back and forth, no delay.  Lately though it has been hanging for 30 seconds to several minutes...to further clarify, RDP session is running. I am clicking the icon of the running app at the bottom of my screen. When I do that, instead of bring up my other computer, the cursor becomes a circle/wheel and I just have to wait until it works through whatever the hang up is and finally takes me back into my RDP session.  What should I check?

To further clarify, I have the session up in a window. If I click into the session from the window, seems fine. Can navigate around and work on that remote computer. But, if I hit the icon at the bottom of my local machine, the circle/wheel thing starts and won't go to the RDP session.  This has been lasting 30 seconds to several minutes and works itself out...

Are you minimising the RDS session in which case it will momentarily disconnect from the session. If the RDS session is active behind a window it won't have this issue.

when I am in the session and want to get back to my desktop, I minimize it.  I am using a 4 monitor setup and the RDP is mstsc /span "c:\Users\joes\Desktop\sdcomDP.rdp", so it is more practical to minimize the RDP.

dude, that is cool.  How you guys find all this stuff, never ceases to amaze....

Ran that on the pc I RDP onto daily.  Now wonder if I should run it our SBS 2008 as well?  I RDP onto that occasionally, but unlike  the pc I am on all day, the server I am on and off in a few minutes.
Glad to have helped. I've worked with Remote Desktop for over 10 years and learn about all the quirks and niggles which can be annoying, hence saw your question and thought yup I could help here.
