Anyone else who could help?

You mean none of the nine or so suggestions I posted (including a Repair Install) helped?
You seem to say that ONE ViewSonic--not Windows Update-- has failed, Are you sure you need this update? Or that it is the correct update for your monitor?

Yes that is correct. I have spend a total of about 4-5 hour on the PC. I have tried everything. The monitor and video driver are the correct once and you are right I probably don't need them but it is too late to back out.

If you are not having problems with the ViewSonic or the graphics adapter, maybe it is not necessary to update them.
If these are updates from MS offered by Windows Updates, I personally not install them. Go to the ViewSonic and Intel websites and see what Updates they offer. Also read why the Updates are offered--what problems they solve and what new features they offer. If the reasons for the updates are not important to you then forget about installing them.

Have you tried to restore it yet?
ASKER
Yes I have and my restore points don't go back far enough. The problem start on Jan the 8th and my restore points only go back to the 12th.
@ jcimarron: As I said before did you read my comments on the windows 7 forum? The drivers are no longer the issue. The problem is that I can't get it out of needing to reboot the computer.

Wow you are a genius @jcimarron
I spent over 3-4 hours on this and pulling the plug and rebooting solved the problem. Updates are working again and I have now hidden the view sonic and video driver from updating

I am so glad all is well.

After the computer restarts, manually run Windows Update and install one update at a time. One of them will fail. You will have to restore again, but this time mark that update to hide it and it will not try to install it again.
