Explorer.exe keeps crashing all of a sudden when mapping a network drive

The network drive has been used for many years, and co-workers are using it today just fine.

The crash happened after my PC restarted, and I was re-mapping the network drive as I usually do.

There are other users having th same issue as you are in Windows 7, but for other reasons so make sure you have the latest windows updates then check out this question on EE for a solution that worked for them https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26963437/Explorer-exe-keeps-crashing-in-Windows-7.html
This article says to turn off Data Execution Prevention (near the bottom):

But; I would first boot into Safe Mode and do a System Restore to before it started.

ASKER

Well I went through every Windows Update and any new installation that I had in the previous 24 hours and uninstalled them all one-by-one.

Once I uninstalled the software for a USB Bluetooth adapter (CSR Harmony) that I purchased off of Amazon and restarted, everything went back to normal.

I don't think anybody else could have answered my question once I found out what it was.  There was new software I installed for a USB adapter which was causing the issue.

My comment said to check for updates and for new software.  By checking the updates/software you resolved your problem.
I agree David said asked in comment https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28652457/Explorer-exe-keeps-crashing-all-of-a-sudden-when-mapping-a-network-drive.html?anchorAnswerId=40714532#a40714532 if you had recently installed new software or updates -- he should get the points
