Those shares are set for offline syncing. When I connect the Q and Active Sync does its thing, it takes me offline from the wired connection. I have to log off and back on to restore the network connection to the shares on the server. I tried moving the wired connection to the top of the Network services order and the ActiveSync network connection to the bottom but that doesn't seem to help. Any thoughts?

Try disabling Internet Passthrough.
You can disable this by launching ActiveSync, clicking on File - Connection Settings. Uncheck the option "Allow Network and RAS..."
Never seen this issue though.
