Unable to Sync to Exchange - error 85020006

I currently have a Windows Mobile that has decided not to Sync it's Exchange side when plugged in via USB.

The PDA will sync over the air with Exchange without a problem. When plugged into USB the local PC sync's ok but Exchange fails with error 85020006.

Have googled the problem and tried some of the suggested fixes with no joy. I have changed the connection settings in ActiveSync from Automatic to Internet, tried soft resetting the device, added AllowLSP in registry etc. It would appear that internet access isn't available when connected via USB hence it fails but from what I can tell all the usual connection settings are as they should be.
