On eTrust and Vista, I had trouble installing it via the Remote Install Utility and received an error stating that the utility could not connect to the remote registry. This tipped off a colleague who asked me to check the remote registry service on the Vista Client. It was set to Manual and was not running. I started it. The eTrust Remote Install Utility was then able to install.
However, eTrust is still not fully functional on the client, so still more work to do.

CA claims that eTrust 8.0 is not supported on Windows Vista and that we must run eTrust 8.1. While I was able to install 8.0 onto a Vista Client, it does not appear to be running properly and may be ineffective - not sure. If you think eTrust 8.0 is running ok on Vista, pop up the console and check it out.
Based on my conversation with the CA Call Center, we'll need to uninstall the Remote Install Utility on the eTrust Server first. That should be the only uninstall. Then install 8.1 as an upgrade and choose to keep your policies and settings.

NOD32 is now working well.
AVG Free may be a good choice until eTrust is undated.
