vista monitor off shortcut

Is there a way to make the monitor go into sleep mode in windows vista?  I used to use nircmd from nirsoft.com but that dosn't work in vista.

On my Vista, I right-click on the desktop, go to "Personalize", "Screen Saver", "Change Power Settings", and then make the changes I want.

Post back when you can.

You misunderstood my question.  I want a shortcut on my desktop.  When I double click it, screen goes to sleep.

No, that doesn't work in Vista.  That is what I was using in XP.  (nirsoft.net)  I posed wrong link  in my original question.

It's not exactly what I think you want - but it may suffice for now

Create a shortcut to:   "scrnsave.scr"  - this will blank the screen, the monitor will turn off whenever you have set it in Power Options

I'll keep on looking for other solutions in the meantime if you like

scrnsave.scr = good idea but not not exactly what i need.  I guess I wanted a free solution.  The programs in those links aren't free.

either it will or won't work - you'll just have to wait until I get home since I don't have VB6 on this computer to make the app for you
