I constantly get this below error when trying to do a backup using windows backup within Vista. I send the info away for more information and it comes back with nothing. I have changed the drive i'm backing up to, with another removable hdd and still no luck.
File backup failed. The error is: If an MM error is returned which is not defined in the standard FsRtl filter, it is converted to one of the following errors which is guaranteed to be in the filter. In this case information is lost, however, the filter correctly handles the exception. (0xC00000EA).
Any thoughts??

1) I would run the Chkdsk on all drives to make sure that it is not an issue with corrupted files.
2) I would try to shut down all programs and processes that are not essential when doing the backup.
You may want to look at msconfig - startup ,and disable stuff.
3) Make sure no malware is on your system
4) Try turning off your Antivirus.

After posting this i put the whole error from the event viewer into google, expecting nothing. It came back with 1 result and it was perfect. It said that this problem occured with etrust antivirus and when realtime protection is turned off , it would work fine. I set it running last night before going home, with as they said, the AV s/w snoozed for 2 hours and this morning - a successful backup.
