Hard to read (small) text/icons/graphics on brand new computer using Windows Vista

I have purchased a brand new computer using Windows Vista.  When I am reading text in the Internet Explorer 7 browser I find the text, graphics, icons etc very small and hard to see/read.

What can I do to make the text, graphics, icons etc larger and clearer/easier to read?

I am a newbie to Vista.
