New Vista install fails to show videos, instead giving error: IS Filter Callout

Asked by it4soho in Windows Vista

We have a new MS Vista Business system (one of 5 new systems) that is having an issue viewing video web content. It is the ONLY one of the 5 new boxes with this issue -- same user, same profile (we're in an AD server environment) works fine on any of the other 4 boxes, fails on this box.

What happens when you click on the video link is that IE displays a message that says it cannot display the website. When you ask it to diagnose the issue, the response is that it is being blocked by an "IS Callout Filter" and suggests we look at the MS Firewall.

Well, the MS Firewall is off (we use F-Secure Small Business, and the client product (version 7.10) provides a much better firewall). The F-Secure configs are controlled by a "central command" (Policy Manager) and are the same on all 5 systems -- so I dare say I don't suspect the F-Secure... yet.

I have searched and searched online for similar problems, but the error message "IS Filter Callout" is too generic to catch anything in the first 250 hits (on Google) that comes close to a "real" match.

Any ideas are gratefully accepted. I have easy remote access to the system through a VPN, so I can quickly test anything you need.

Best Regards,

Dan McAllister
