Things to know before installing Vista SP1

Hi,

SP1 for vista has been released and I have downloaded it and was just wondering is it any good and is it safe to install and what do I need to know before installing it I have read some where that when it comes in a Windows Update it is ok t put on but mine hasn't yet is that bad will I do any damage if i load it before then or what?
