Logging on to Server 2003 network domain

My Dell M1730 laptop has been working with pre SP1 Vista both attached to the network and standalone.

I have now installed SP1 and when attached to the network it never gets past the "Please wait" pre login screen. If I boot with the network cable disconnected it boots correctly and I can then attach the cable and have access to all network resources. Any clues why?
