I have been running vista on my computer for probably about 12 months now. Lately I have been having some issues as the result of some programs that my wife installed so I figured I would just reinstall Windows no big deal. I have spent a good portion of the day trying to get this to work.
Everytime I try to install it it gets to be about 65-70 percent complete and unexpectedly reboots. After rebooting it no longer recognizes my hard drive until I disconnect and reconnect the SATA cable. I haven't made very many changes since I originally installed the operating system. I added another 2GB of RAM for a total of 3GB and added a DVD burner.
I stumbled upon an article which suggested I used DBAN but it was going to take 2-3 days to run. Instead I ended up using a program called Kill Disk which I figured would do a good enough job. Nothing I have tried has been successful. My last attempt for tonight I have disconnected all of my USB devices except my Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. I am still trying to run the install and will see if it fails but I am not too hopefull that it will be successful.
Can anyone give me any insight as to why I am experiencing problems.
