I cannot get the vista PC to stay connected to the network at the XP PC using the netgear USB.

I have tried install/ uninstall netgear USB, including using the windows vista network utility. The vista computer will stay connected about 10 minutes, then the connection is dropped and it will say "unable to find a network".
If I unlug and reinsert the USB it will again temporarily "find" the network, but bumps off even quicker.

I have switched off the windows firewall.
