how can i resume a download?

Hi Experts
I was downloading a big file(over 100M) and with only 10MB left, my mobile broadband connection got disconnected! I made a new connection right away but my previous download just wouldn't resume...and when i tried to start downloading it again, it started from the very beginning which was extremely annoying!

I guess a partially downloaded file is somewhere on my computer. is there a way that i can finish my downloading without starting from scratch? i was not using any 3rd-party downloaders, just the one came with Windows.

Any help would be much appreciated
