The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. HELP--Vista crashes shortly after startup

This one has me COMPLETELY stumped.  Vista 64-bit Home Premium PC, working great until last night, it all of a sudden froze.  when I restart, it boots into windows then about 20 seconds after getting logged in boom it freezes again, doesn't matter if I open programs or not.  when I start in safe mode, it works fine, no crashing.  I have done a chkdsk that comes out clean.  I.  Some process must be starting up AFTER the initial bootup that is freezing this machine.  how do I figure out what it is?  I have tried disabling everything under the "startup" tab in MSCONFIG. it works..
enabled some more back still works... then i went to the services tab enabled all microsoft ones.. and back to the issue..

but which one is it? any ideas?

tried running sfc /scannow  stops at 38% then after 3 minutes it displays an error saying it can perform the task..

this laptop is only 2-3 months old..
seems like the model is no longer on bestbuy.com anymore..
it's a toshiba latop

part number PSAG0U-01800M

attached is the services.. those that are running in safemode (which i am currently in) so the started ones are fine.. but the others not sure..Start Free Trial
