The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. I am trying to find the drivers to get my hard drive recognized to downgrade

I am trying to downgrade my Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 laptop from Vista to XP. When I try to boot from the XP CD, here is a summary of what happens:

I got to the Boot Menu, and selected the options to Boot & run Windows Setup
 
On the "Welcome to Setup" screen, I received the following prompt:
 
This portion of the setup program preparesMicrosoft(R) Windows(R) XP to run on your computer. To set up Windows XP press Enter.
 
When I press Enter, I receive the following error message:
 
Windows XP Professional Setup
 
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.
Setup cannot continue. To exit setup press F3.
 
At that point I exited and had no trouble starting Vista. From there, I tried to run the XP setup from Vista, and as expected it did not work.

I found out that what I need is a HDD controller driver, which is not on the drivers page when I checked Toshiba's web site. I posted this question a week ago, but the responses I've gotten have just given links to either Toshiba's web site (which does not have these drivers) or to other external help pages.

I've googled this to death w/o any success. Does anyone have a link to a site where I can download the necessary HDD controller drivers for a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804?Start Free Trial
