Services fail to start

I'm having trouble with all my Vista client machines in my Windows 2003 domain. Some services like DHCP client, Diagnostic Policy Service, Network List Service, Network Location Awareness and Windows Time fail to start. All of these servies use the Local Service user account to start, exept Network Location Awareness, which uses the Network Service account. I'm not having trouble on any of the XP machines.

Where can I check (or what config changes can I make) to fix this?

Thanks

I am unable to open the Security log. I get the following error when trying to open the log file.

Event Viewer cannot open the event or custom view. Verify that Event Log service is running. Access is denied (5)

I've checked and the Event Log service is running

In the System event log I get the following error after trying to open the security log:

The event logging service encountered an error (res=5) while initializing logging resources for channel Microsoft-Windows-Winsock-WS2HELP/Operational

Other events in the system log:

The DHCP Client service terminated with the following error:
Access is denied.

All error events has got the "Access denied" at the end.

Thanks
Looks like you're having some security type of issues on the machine. Have you given these users any type of access to the machine, such as local admin access or at least power users access?

Yes, all the vista users are administrators on their PC's.

Can it be something with Group Policies? All other articals I have read is mentioning GP as posible causes.
I guess it's possible if you've customized a lot of policies, but the default policies in Server 03 should NOT disallow a client to run an important service like DHCP.

What happens when you try to start the service manually on the client machine....

Thanks, that put me on the right trail. But that would only help me with the DHCP and TCPIP solution. I found another forum telling me that it is a corrupt registry on the DC. I had to give Local Service and Network Service full access in the registry on SYSTEM.

That solved all my services not starting problem. I can however still not open the Security Event log.
