So, there is no keyboard trick, like left shift during boot? Wonder why MS took that out?

Browse All TopicsIn XP, holding down the shift key during boot (after logging in) will suppress running the programs in the Startup Group. This does not seem to work in Vista; is there an equivalent method of doing this?
I realize I can use MSCONFIG to skip all startup functions, but I am looking for a more ad-hoc method.

Besides MSCONFIG or using registry edits, I know of only one other way of skipping startup programs in Vista, namely using Windows Defender:
