Our client with a brand new Dell PC running Vista Business, I installed it on Friday.
Their printer dealer installed the software for their Toshiba e-studio 281c network printer/copier on Monday.
Now whenever they print to it they receive the "Spooler subsystem app stopped working and was closed". Apparently it works OK when they try a test print from the printer properties, but not from any applications.
Any ideas welcomed?

Most spooler problems are caused by corrupt drivers. I would completely reinstall the driver, as follows:
Go to Start > Printers and Faxes. Delete the printer. Then, from the File menu, select Server Properties and remove the printer from the list. Reboot to ensure everything is gone and then reinstall from the CD.
If that does not fix it, try running SCF /SCANNOW from Start > Run.
You were more or less in the right direction. I eventually managed to speak to a Toshiba technician here in the UK, they normally only deal with their own dealers and support technicians. He said that the driver was probably the wrong one or corrupted. He sent me the correct one and told me how to install it.
I had difficulty removing the existing driver because the print spooler kept stopping. In the end I had to go into the registry and remove it manually whilst re-starting the spooler service and quickly deleting the driver entry before the spooler stopped again! I followed items 6 - 10 in http://members.shaw.ca/bsa
I then installed the driver by adding it as a local printer, adding a TCP/IP standard port, pointing it to the ip address of the printer and selecting the driver files that Toshiba had sent me. There were a couple of other settings I had to change oin the port config queue = print and to use the LPR protocol.
So although not quite the magic bullet, I will award you some points.

Forgot to mention, even re-starting the spooler service doesn't help as the error happens again when they go to print.
