Yes, whatever login you are using on the source box must have admin rights on the target box.  The remote registry service must also be running on the target box and "Access this computer from the network" policy must have Administrators included in the list.

ASKER

my account has administrator rights on the entire network, so i had admin rights on the source(my pc) and the destination,

there is no file and print sharing service listed, on either windows vista and xp, did you mean something else?

thanks
My bad.  This would be listed on the properties tab of the network card.  If you go into the Control Panel>Network Connections, and then open your LAN connection, make sure File and Print Sharing is checkmarked.  All of the PSTOOLs need access to \\targetpc\c$ and if File and Print Sharing is off, it isn't going to get there.
ive tested it on one computer now seems to be working :)

alothough i get another few errors on it

Error: could not retrieve log on time
NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE

Error: could not retrieve log on time
NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE

Error: could not retrieve log on time
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

what do these errors mean?

THankyou
That's normal...just means that the PC hasn't been logged into.  If you log into the PC with a domain account, you should get back the login name and time.
Thankyou
