ERROR CODE 2000-0142

I followed your recommendation purchased through ebay a new Seagate hard drive and installed it.  After a few days of re-installing all the software and finally being able to use the computer, all of the sudden a blue screen appeared and system was shut down to prevent damage.  Computer does not load the os, tried safe mode and stays frozen, tried last good known configuration and no luck.  Also tried the star up repair and it takes forever.  While running test hard disk failed test error code: 2000-0142.  I still haven't received the usb caddy  to try and recover data from previous damaged hard drive.

Download and run the Seagate Tools - instructions here:
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools

Run the diagnostic tests. It's quite likely that you've been unlucky and may have to get the drive replaced under warranty.
