According to the link you posted, it sounds as if uninstalling one or two earlier updates may be the answer. I'll be trying this tomorrow ...

Browse All TopicsI have a Toshiba Equium Laptop running Vista Home Premium SP1.
I have Windows automatic updates set to advise me of updates and prompt for install.
I have installed up Important Updates to date.
Yesterday it advised Vista SP2 is available, and I instructed it to download and install.
The installation stops with a dialog saying :
"One or more drivers might be incompatible.
"The driver listed below might be incompatible ...[blah blah]...
"MSDSM - Please read Microsoft Knowledge Base articel: 967752"
I had a look (briefly) at KB967752 and it doesn't seem directly relevant, and not being an expert, I found it not too comprehensible and therefore not much help.
The install dialog has two buttons, "Ignore and contiue" and "Cancel"
I used the cancel button.
My question is: Can anyone explain the problem to me and offer a solution - or do I rerun the install and pick "Ignore and continue" ?

Problem resolved
Using info in the link provided by dmarinenko above, I uninstalled one of the KB fixes mentioned in that thread.
I also did run sfc, as suggested by sorceror2k5. I actually came across this tool in connection with another problem I had, which was that System Restore would not work properly. The sfc found and fixed a faulty system file. I cannot say for sure if the sfc contributed to resolving one or both problems, I only know that restore is now OK and SP2 is installed.
Thanks for help!

Also looking around it seems people suggest downloading the whole thing manually and installing rather then the automatic updates.
you can get it here http://www.microsoft.com/d
I don't think I would retry and hit ignore, it seems people who get this error get dead systems.
