The problem with a product like opendns is that it becomes a blanket setting for your entire network. I need to be able to allow exceptions either by user name, machine name, or groups (any one of them, not all 3).

Browse All TopicsI am using Vista and Windows 7 Ultimate and my machines are joined to a domain. Unfortunately Parental Controls will not work with AD accounts, I did get it enabled on the machine, but the settings only work on local users. Is there an equivalent to Parental Controls that works on domain accounts? I am looking at blocking inappropriate internet access for one of my clients and want to do it in my test setup first. I have 2 Windows 2003 Standard domain servers, and a Windows 2008 Standard member server to work with. I do have additional hardware available and am fine installing another server with MS software to get it done. My client likes MS products and I would like to avoid making them buy a non-MS product. I am open to solutions that require config on client or server.

Take a look at OPENDNS. You can put in some pretty strict filtering, and there is no software to install at each client.
