Question

Remove confirmation when running batch files from a shortcut

Asked by: raterus

I have many shortcuts to batch files on my favorites menu.  When I go to execute them, I get a "Security Warning" that prompts me if I really want to do that.  I want to remove this dumb confirmation.

Does anyone know how to disable these prompts?

This is not UAC, I've already disabled that.
I've also tried a few other registry hacks to no avail.

Hello,

you need to change the Internet Security settings from Internet Options for local intranet, and move the slider to low, you can also customize the settings to allow all from the cutomize level button.

some people say (what does IE options got to do with this) believe me, it does :)

If they are internet shortcuts, add them to the trusted sites on the securty tab in the internet options.

The security warning box should give you FROM (an IP address or URL).

Try adding that to the trusted sites..... (Uncheck the HTTPS:// requirement box)

@ksalameh, I moved the slider to low, applied, restarted, retried the batch file, but the security warning persists.

I tried searching again for a fix, and came across this at the command prompt.  Still didn't work.

c:
cd %userprofile%\favorites
icacls links /setintegritylevel (CI)low

@ThePhreakshow, these aren't internet shortcuts, they are only shortcuts to batch files located on my PC.

Sorry, no.

I've already done the first suggestion before I wrote this question.  I added *.* to all those Low/Medium/High lists.

Don't think the second link applies here, as I'm not even going over the network.  But I tried that fix and it didn't work either.

What OS are you using?  I've tried to duplicate your issue with Vita 32 and XP.  No luck, lets the batch execute without any prompting.  What does your batch file do?

I'm using Vista 32-bit.

Note, these shortcuts (to .bat files) are links under my "Favorites" folder.  And from earlier help, I gathered this was a special folder to IE.

If I move the shortcuts out of Favorites, I don't get the warning anymore.

Sorry, no.  I've attached a screenshot of the warning.

Ok, I figured out how to remove this prompt.

Under the Internet Zone, I chose "custom level", and then changed "Launching applications and unsafe files" to "Enable".  Then IE8 moaned and groaned about how unsafe this is.

Since I don't use IE, I really don't care what it thinks, though it would be nice to know how to configure these local links under a trusted site.

My suggestion would have been to put these batch files into a single directory and then apply some level of trust to this directory.
