Browse All TopicsI am using Vista Home Premium and the problem with it is that when I actually select the option of
" Install updates and shout down" then it starts updates and then its updates go on and on forever..
I mean, I have tried giving it as much time as possible I have tried selecting this option and waited for 8 hours sometimes but it is always doing updates.
Now, there is a special pattern in this. It is always stuck in the last update. If there are 6 updates to do its 6th update goes on and on and if it has 12 updates to do then its 12th update is the one which goes on and on forever.
I am really not sure why it does that. My antivirus is up and running.

Hmmm, perhaps 8 hours was not enough. Being impatient, are we?
I assume you shut down the machine manually. I think your system gets restored to the previous configuration, so it will allways install the same updates and any newer. Can you check the Event Viewer to see if it logs the updates, and possibly the offending update.
If it turns out that it is one perticular update, you can disable it in WIndows Update of download and install it manually from the Microsoft site. Or the suggestion of joinaunion will solve it.
