The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

WinXP Moving or changing Partition

Asked by wlennon in Windows XP Operating System

Tags: ntfs, partition, winxp

As most of you know me, and I am a so called Expert on Win XP, I am too busy to actually work on this.

1. I own a full version of XP Home which I am using as an upgrade to WinMe and using a FAT 32 Parition, all my software and hardware are all XP compatible.  Should I use the program in XP to change the partition to NTFS, which is more stable and better security.  But since it is an over install, I know it would be best to have a clean install.

2. The problem: I cannot afford to lose ANY data, as many of you know.  I have Danze Retrospect for backups, as well as Norton Ghost...and of course Windows Back-up.

I have two 60gb HDD's, Master and Slave. I want re partititon Drice C and do a clean install of XP Home, that is no problem, but, how do I retrive my data (Installed Programs) and MS Office XP Pro, not to mention one of the most important aspects of this is to not loose even one email.  I do own Partition Magic, but you cannot have a NTFS and a FAT32 on the same disk.

I own all software mentioned above, and much more. btw-I am on a T-1 connection.

System is:
*Dell 8200 2.2 P-4 Processor
*nVida GeForce 4 Ti 400 Graphics card, with 128 mb DDR-SDRAM
*400mgz FSB and 1 gb DDR RAM

Thanks in Advance.
*SOUND BLASTER EXTIGY - External sound system.
*40x12x48 TDK VeloCD CD-RW
*Sony DRU110A/C1 combination DVD+RW/CD-R/RW burner
