This is a strange case! I have a desktop and laptop both running almost identical software - primarily Windows XP and Office XP along with a few of my favorite utilities, etc. I usually add the same program immediately to both machine when I get it. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT NOR CAN I POINT THE BLAME TO ANY ONE PROGRAM! It appeared to slowly get worse and worse.
The problem is this: When browsing, I will click on a link. A new window will open but nothing happens on it! I can go back (usually) and copy the link, paste it on that page, and it will open it right up. This I could live with but do not want to!
BUT, there are some windows or screens that just will not open and this is where I get the "javascript error"!!! No matter what I do - the window will not open or allow me access to the screen at all. And this may be a screen that is very important such as a download I need or info I need to enter to proceesd with a process.
I do not know what else to say about it. I'm sure you will have questions for me.
I will not pay the points to anybody who suggests that I "jump back in time" with windows xp. Reason being that I would have no clue as to how far I would need to go back and I do not think it will go back far enough to get to the root of the problem!
I NEED SOMEBODY WHO IS REAL GOOD - SOMEONE WHO CAN ACTUALLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT FOR ME WHICH IS WHY I OFFER SO MANY POINTS - THIS IS SERIOUS!!!
So if you are my person - read this over again and put on your thinking cap... Solve it and make me extremely happy and pick up a bunch of pioints! You will have to work with me. I will do what is asked of you but I expect you to feed me information daily at least. I'd like to solve this as soon as possible as there are certain things I need to do on the net that I cannot because of this mess.
I do not receive e-mails from EE anymore when a question has been upgraded - so please do it yourself at duvall@gnt.net. This way things move along faster, I work with you when YOU want to work.
Good ,luck all and thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EE limited me to 500 points for this question... I have posted the identical question in the JavaScript section at 500 points too... THE PERSON ANSWERING THE QUESTION WILL GET BOTH 500's FOR A TOTAL OF 1000 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
