The reason i had to partition again was because when I had put in Linux, it did not detect the partitions and so I had to remove Linux, and had to go through the partitioning again. When i did this there was a new version of Ontrack available, so I went right ahead. That is when I made the mistake of putting in the Ontrack disk when it asked for the startup disk. Since it was not accepting Ontrack I got my harddisk partioned using AEFDISK. but the problem was i was not able to asssign 5 GB of space. If a later version of Ontrack was available I would have been able to override my previous settings. Since that is not possible i was wondering if there is another solution.

Greetings!
If the different disks from Ontrack are also different (earlier) versions, this will be a problem.
Curious what caused you to partition a second time, and when you did, are you absolutely sure you used the same version disk this (second) time?
If newer version, then probably not a problem.
If older, then most likely a problem.
If not concerned about an data or programs, I'd suggest a completely new installation (clear out any partitions using latest version) and re-create them.
Alternatively, if you are able to flash your PC's BIOS, you -may- be able to use the larger (40gb?) drive now.
Hope this helps!
