The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

XP Upgade- Adminstrator-User Probles

Asked by dkresge in Windows XP Operating System

I have recently upgraded my OS from Windows Me to Windows XP Professional. Many things are working well, but I am having a few problems. Some or all of the problems may result from being a designated Administrator vs. a standard user. I am the only user of my computer and not part of a LAN, other than a cable broadband  internet access within my house. At the logon screen, I log on under my name and supply my password. Here are some of the problems I have:

I am not able to call up the “Help and Support” menu. If I click on Help and Support item in the Start menu, I get about two seconds of hard drive buzz, but no screen or message—nothing.

If I go to the Control Panel window and select “User Accounts”, I get a blank window. At the top is says “User Accounts”, below the title bar it says “Back” with a left and right arrow, and “Home”. The menu items produce no results. There are no user names presented.

Some software will not load completely, such as Symantec Systemworks 2003. I am able to load “Norton Utilities”, “CleanSweep”, and “Web Tools”. But the Anti Virus program will not load. It appears to go through the installation process, then starts a “roll back” process and presto whamo it does not show up as a functional element of SystemWorks.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Dale
