Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI'm running win xp. I have been sending and receiving mail. till I upgraded my incredimail. Now I can't use the mail at all. Even on Outlook express. I've gone over the settings with my cable server, and it's not at there end. What could it be? I have tried uninstalling Incredimail, and reinstalling it. No good. Some said it might have screwed up my registery, but I don't know how to check it. Help

Go to start/run and type in regedit
after that, go through the menues and look for any entires under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS (it will be under software or default) that refer to IncrediMail. Delete them, close the registry table and reboot. Try firstly your mail software, and then reinstall the incredimail if you whish... If this doesn't help, if the update installation was recent, you can always use the system restore option (start system restore wizard from help), that will get you to the time before the instalation took place and out of trouble... Vlad
the error code I get is
A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'pop3.mail.wideopenwest.co
and
A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'pop3.mail.wideopenwest.co
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
You have Norton AntiVirus 2003 or Norton AntiVirus 2002 installed.
You have Scan incoming Email and Scan outgoing Email turned on in Norton AntiVirus.
http://support.microsoft.c
How to disable email scanning in Norton AntiVirus 2002 and 2003:
http://service1.symantec.c
If you have any other virus scanning application, disable the email protection.
Question number one is... Can you ping pop3.mail.wideopenwest.com
If you can ping that address, try telneting to pop3.mail.wideopenwest.com
Just FYI, I tried pinging it myself, and don't get anything. It's got an MX at 64.233.207.14 and it's typical www address is 64.233.207.13. I'm unable to ping either. Maybe it's server end?
G'luck.
All you need to do is click Start > Run.
In the run box, type "cmd" and click OK.
At the command prompt type "ping pop3.mail.wideopenwest.com
After you do this, you'll get a print out. Either ping times (measured in milliseconds) or Destination Unreachable.
If you're getting destination unreachable, I'd suggest talking to your host. That server may be down, or a router between you and the server.
Please feel free to ask more if you're still uncertain.

OK, I did that, and this is the message I got
pinging pop3.mail.wideopenwest.com
ping: transmit failed, error code 65
ping: transmit failed, error code 65
ping: transmit failed, error code 65
ping: transmit failed, error code 65
Ping statistics for 64.233.207.14
Packets: sent = 4, received = 0, lost = 4 ,<100% loss>

I looked up the above ping error message at Microsoft's support site and found this article, which may solve your problem:
http://support.microsoft.c
"Ping: Transmit Failed, Error Code 65" Error Message When You Attempt to Ping Another Computer
