Thanks for the quick response. After deleting the aforementioned registry keys, how would I go about ADDing an item (volume control for instance) into the Notification Area?

It absolutely escapes me, but I thought I knew at one point how to ADD an item (volume control for example) to the Notification Area. I'd greatly appreciate a solution; my XP volume control was there, but has subsequently dissapeared (yet still exists in Start/Programs/Accessories
