The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problem with Windows XP and Explorer

Asked by yanbergeron24 in Windows XP Operating System

Tags: explorer, internet

Hi,

I have a problem with a computer running Windows XP and Explorer.

When I try to open Microsoft Outlook  / MMC Console, and plenty of other application, it tells me that I need to have Explorer 4.01 or higher.

When I open Explorer / About Explorer, There's nothing written at the side of the version!

I tried to re-install Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, still no version

I tried to re-install Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2, still no version

I tried to re-install Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 english (I use french versions), still no version

I removed Outlook XP and re-installed Office 2000, during the installation, it told me that I had not the latest version of IE and that it was going to install IE 5.0... I clicked Ok... and then... still no version...

So it looks like plenty of my applications need IE version 5 or later... and there's no version when these applications watch for it...

I wanted to completely remove IE... but it is not shown in the Add/Remove programs...

I tried to search for a key registry that might have the version of explorer... but no success...

This is not my computer... it's the one of my friend... so I don't want to format, etc...

What can I do!!! I need help!!!

I don't think I have the MSBLAST virus because the antivirus was up-to-date... and I did search of MSBLAST.EXE in the c:\Windows folder and in the HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/...etc/RUN

Any idea please!!!
