  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Blue screens 'Caused by a Device Driver', but which one?

I frequently get blue screens on my Sony Vaio FX802 laptop, sometimes more than one a day. The last blue screen message was IRQL_not_less_or_equal.  

I've reinstalled XP Home maybe five times and reinstalled all my applications one by one but I can't fathom what's causing it or when it happens. It's sometimes when the computer is idle (when I'm not there) and other times when I'm using IE, Outlook, Word etc. The only thing I've noticed is that it doesn't seem to happen if I'm on the road with nothing attached except a modem cable.  

The Microsoft Online Crash Analysis reports tells me it's caused by a device driver, but can't tell me which one.
I've got the full memory dump reporting turned on.  Can anyone help me find out what's causing the crashes?

BTW, I'm a relatively dumb user, and have never got into DOS terminology (having been a Mac user previously) so please bear with me.
