Browse All TopicsWhen booting XP and pressing F5 , you will receive a boot-menu with several options
like safe-mode ... How and where can I customise this menu to execute my own procedures?
The reason that I'am asking this, is that I want a hidden bootable maintenance partition.
When pressing F8, a user must have the possibility to reïnstall his PC from this maintenance part.
Simply changing the boot.ini file gives always a prompt and this is something I do not want.
Any other suggestions ?

Unfortunately Strooba, there's no way to modify this outside of Windows code. When Safe Mode is enabled, the code sets a variable called the SAFEBOOT_OPTION. This option is created within the Windows XP code based upon the system setup and whether or not it is networked, and/or whether it is part of a domain.
