Print Spooler Stops (WinXP Pro)

I have a locally connected printer and the print spooler service stops for no reason.  The system log records the fact that the spooler stopped, but gave no additional (helpful) information.

The problem occurs dispite the use of several printers.

Is this computer connected to a network, and is the printer shared?

What type of printer is it, and does it use any type of redirector etc?

Does it stop when printing locally, or if networked, when someone else accesses it?

Hi,
      more info will certainly narrow down the cause of the problem to an extent.

did u try restarting the print spooler service from services window

here are the steps:
****************
Start->Run->Services.msc

Open Print spooler service and set the Startup type to "Automatic"
                                                  set the service status to "Started"

Also, set both the things as stated above for Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service

Restart the computer and try again

I am trying to install a Lemark X2250 printer. I can not start the print spooler service on local computer, error msg 1068: appears dependency service or group failed to start. I Have open the print spooler service and set the startup type to automatic, it want allow me to go any farther. I have changed the RPC service to do the same I was sucessful with that. Can anyone help me?

Hi everyone. I am running a network of more than 200 PCs, With Win2003 as servers and XP professional as client currently I am facing a problem that on my xp clients print spooler service stops for no reason. I have checked event log but no message posted for this stopage of print spooler service. even i have set "restart the service" after "0" seconds in recovery option but spooler stops for no reason on daily basis. Can anybody help me in this regard.

Do we have a solution for this?  I see this posted:

But I do not see any reference to RPC settings...unless I am overlooking this.  I have the same issue and cannot keep the service started for more that 10-20 seconds.

You mention that you have completed the procedure for Microsoft's Knowledge Base article #KB810894. Have you installed multiple printers? If yes, which printers? In what order and when did you install the last one. What applications have you tried to print that causes this error?
