Hi, I'm when ever I try and install a program, which installs from an .msi . It comes up with:

Hi, it works now, I've worked out what the prolem was, I installed folder guard so that people wouldn't install stuff onto other people logins and it was targeting a place that was invisable, so I changed it, and now it works. I'll give the points to AlexJ.
Thanks all,
Liam

As a follow up to this issue, I had the same problem occur recently and used the fix of re-registering msiexec.exe, using the recommended command line
c:\winnt\System32\msiexec. exe /REGSERVER
and voila! problem fixed!
Many thanks!

i have recently had this problem too, and have yet to solve it.
ive tried the re-registering msiexec.exe trick - no luck
i have no "folder guard" installed.
i cant find an update for installShield, so if any1 knows where i can get that that might help.
ive made sure i have administrator rights...
what else can i do?
any help would be most welcome

Thanks AlexJ for your posting. I wish I could give you points for this.
I had the same problem while installing an app on a Citrix server running on Windows server 2000. It appeared that another instance of MSIEXEC was already running from a previous faulting installation.
I killed the process in task manager and everything ran fine.

I had this problem when installing Navision Application Server (NAS) 4.0 SP3 on a Server 2003.
I had the install files located on a local raid drive, and I got rid of the problem when I copied the files to the C drive and ran the installation from there. (I have no clue what the difference between 2 local HDs is but Iam glad I got it working)
