Thanks, that is good information. However, my problem is that the shortcuts sometimes stop working altogether, not get disconnected.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsWhen I place a shortcut to a network share on my XP Desktop, it works properly the first time I use it. A window opens correctly displaying the contents of the network share. Strangely though the network share icon changes from the default for a shared drive to that of a shared folder. Any time I try to use the shortcut after the first time i get this error: "The item <network share> that this object refers to has been changed or moved..... would you like to delete?" The share has not been changed or moved as it is still accessible through my computer, just not with the shortcut. If I delete the shortcut and re-create it the same error occurs after working correctly the first time. It doesn't matter how I create the desktop shortcut, for every method I get this same result. This does not happen for every desktop shortcut to network shares, some work properly, others work as described. This problem creating desktop shortcuts to network shares only occurs on this one computer in our network, so I don't think it has to do with the shares themselves... All help is appreciated.
