Let me get this straight... You want us to add to it or just comment on it?
I think that pretty much sums up Windows 100%. Nothing more I can add.
Oh.. except..
*/ Paint pretty blue desktop and make user unfreindly */
if (user_opens_explorer)
{
paint_blue();
paint_dark_blue();
paint_some_white();
paint_hmm_...._a_bit_of_gr
paint_...._no_wait_....._a
explorer_crash_after_2_mon
pretend_to_send_error_repo
random_shutdown();
}
else
lock_desktop();
pretend_to_send_error_repo
warn_user_about_nothing();
play_beep_loop();
reboot();
I know it's not all that funny, but I am sure someone at M$ must slip these bits of code in the OS somewhere. Why else would there be Experts-Exchange??? Not to mention all the other support forums scattered all over the net.
I actually saw a documentary on TV once about how some (or perhaps all) automobile manufacturers deliberately make their parts in a way that they will fail after a certain time. These parts are proprietary to the manufacturer, so the unsuspecting customer has to pay big $$ for the repair.
Maybe that was M$'s idea in the beginning which would explain why they hold their code under tight security. Maybe they thought that if they put in some code that would fail after some time, customers would be calling them and only M$ would know how to fix it, and because it's M$ fixing the problem, they can charge alot of money for it. But the consumer is smart and will 99% of the time look elsewhere for a solution before they even think of contacting M$.
Well that's my 2 cents. It's 12:34am so I'm off to bed.
