Hi

When starting my Windows Xp corporate Edition fully updated till 04/01/2004, I get a System Error message:

"lhost.exe has detected a problem and must shutdown" (sorry if this error message in English is different, but this is the translation from Spanish)

What can i do to solve it? What is lshost for? What does this program do?

I tried to look onto problems database but the post was deleted ...

Thanks in advance!

start > run> type msconfig.exe
now click on start up  and locate any exe for this file
if found uncheck it.

according to me it might be lsass.exe not lshost.exe
lass.exe (Local security authority manager) is an important file
that may be found missing in your system.

Here is a general description for lsass.exe (which is tied to lshost.exe)

Description: The Windows Local Security Authority Server Process Handles Windows Security Mechanisms. It verifies the validity of user logons to your PC/Server .Technically it generates the process that is responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service.

No lshost.exe loaded on startup, not on msconfig neither in the register :(

lsass is there and it the good one (sfc /scannow)

unless  you are using a domain, you can disable the "netlogon" service. I hope that will help you.

Not using netlogon ... my XP logon automatically ... no logon screen
