How can i find out what serial number I used when i installed xp?
How can i find out what serial number I used when i installed xp? I looked on system properties but is gives a XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX which isnt the serial number because they are in XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XX

....if you're looking to change serial number for whatever reason...
start>run>regedit>HKEY local machine>Software>Microsoft
and click on oobetimer (on right) and delete any # or letter from coding to deactivate. Then go to start>run>C:/windows/syste
or whatever your systemroot is, and when product activation window comes up, click on activate by telephone, click change product key, then type in your new (or old) key. if you lost your key, you might be able to obtain one from somwhere else... dont use the infamous FCKGW serial.... you cant update. now click the x to close that screen, restart your computer, and go to system properties (right click my computer).... under general tab, the registration changes and now you can update w/ microsoft.
