Browse All TopicsI know that he installed a new DVD/DC-Rom combo (LG from Hitachi) and has a sound card called Realtek AC97. DVDs play just fine with music/sound, etc. BUT using Media Player 9 no longer works. Found in XP Home and at the Microsoft site that there's the mci entry to be deleted from the registry, which he did after exporting it, but problems continues. If the music CD is inserted, Media Player pops up but when he tries to play the CD (explorer sees all *.cda files); gets message that he's not online and that it isn't the right media or the path is incorrect.
He's updated the Realtek drivers, no problems in device manager; was successful in modifying one of the sample .cda files to a .wav file using another software product and the wav file plays fine. He's done so many things, and I've given him tons of ideas and links but all to no avail. Even tried uninstalled the Media Player series 9 and reinstalling, which supports VCD as well, no change.
Since when can't Media Play play music CDs, which are always .cda file types and how can we help him?
Thanks,
Asta
