The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Multimple Monitor problem with Dell CPxJ & XP

Reposting this because earlier I seem to have put it in a dead thread. Dell Latitude CPxJ.  Upgraded to XP on a Dell Latitude CPxJ (ATI Rage Mobility AGP card) and the dual monitor feature I enjoyed with Windows 98 is now gone.

Elsewhere on the internet I have found advice that led me to try to install three different alternative drivers:  a HP driver, one on the MS site, and an "alternative" driver recommended on DriverGuide.com

With all of them I still see only one monitor when I go to Displays/Settings, and see no multiple monitor options. In the course of the various reboots and rollbacks, which monitor is black switched: I now am now looking at my secondary monitor, while the CPx laptop screen is black. Many reboots ago, it was the other way around.

In Display Manager under Display Adapters I see ATI Rage Mobility (one driver).  Under Monitors I see three listings:  Dell D2026T, Digital Flat Panel(1024x768) and Generic Television.  All three are supposedly "working properly" and "enabled."  

ATI gives only the most generic support for its products bundled with laptops, and refers me to Dell.  I have diligently searched Dell and sent them a request but they do not answer.

I sincerely hope I will in fact be able to find a Solution here.
