Question

Adding multiple mass storage OEM drivers to a WinXP unattened install

Asked by: cweatherford

I have a basic question that will probably be easy to answer....I am trying to build one WinXP unattended install for all of our workstations to use.  I have an unatteded install that works great for all IDE storage drives and most of the SCSI storage drives.  I did figure out how to add one set of drivers for an OEM mass storage driver by putting the drivers in the $OEM$\TEXTMODE directory.  I can not seem to figure out how to add multiple OEM drivers this way though.

Does anyone else have experience with this?  Is it possible to specify more than one OEM mass storage driver per unattended installation?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris Weatherford

Can I add SCSI Storage drives to the PNP section?  I thought it had to access the mass storage drivers first before loading anything to even be able to see the hard drive.  I can try this though.

But I would think you could install them to this folder
$OEM$\$1\Drivers\001_IDE
Then in winnt.sif - all one line, remove what you don't need.
OemPnPDriversPath = "Drivers\000_chipset;Drivers\001_IDE;Drivers\002_graphics;Drivers\003_tv_out;Drivers\004_sound;Drivers\005_monitor;Drivers\006_keyboard;Drivers\007_mouse"
On setup Windows processes the drivers directly from this Drivers\ folder.

EDIT
But I would think you could install them to this folder
$OEM$\$1\Drivers\001_IDE should be $OEM$\$1\Drivers and you add the sub folder's as above and then called in winnt.sif with the
OemPnPDriversPath = "
statement
