Browse All TopicsWe found a problem on one of our XP machines yesterday. When trying to use our in house software for peer based work we found out that the WMI is not working.... or rather not found. If we go into computer management > expand services and applications and right click on WMI control > properties we get his message:
Failed to connect to <local computer>
because "WMI: Not found"

Click Start, and then right-click My Computer. \Repositor y folder. \Repositor y folder.
On the shortcut menu, click Manage.
In the left pane of the Computer Management console, double-click Services and Applications.
Under Services and Applications, click Services.
In the right pane of the Computer Management console, locate and then right-click Windows Management Instrumentation.
On the shortcut menu, click Stop.
Start Windows Explorer, and then locate the %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
Delete all of the files in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
Restart the computer.
